In computing power per €$¥£ on release day, they're clearly worse. This has more to do with the market, than with the capabilities of those pieces of hardware.

Also there are diminushing returns in visual quality. The last couple generations of RTX were and still are more than enough for gamin . Even if the market were not crazy, buying a newer card would still be a hard sell.

No wonder NVidia is focusing on AI/LLMs. They're a way to massively grow GPU sales, whereas gaming rig sales would give them stable or barely growing sales.
