The Moneyed hate taxation, especially international treaties to address tax evasion & money laundering 4. Creating captive consumer markets for US tech & fossil fuel 5. The wealthy want to end democracy

Unfortunately, the proper way to prevent this from happening again was the same way that would have prevented the rise of the Neo-Confederates in the States: permanently barring the vast portions of the population that aided and abetted the tyrants from holding positions of power or influence ever again. There was no political willpower to do so back then, under the false hope that everyone could be potentially rehabilitated, and this is the result - the secretive, resentful festering of supremacism in the shadows, finally bursting back into the mainstream to the applause of a concerning amount of people.
