Lula, in his victory speech, announced he plans to regulate #Meta and other social media platforms after they had actively shilled for his fascist opponent during the election. #Brazil
I'd start with "not allowed to operate in the country", prosecution of their local leadership, kep their local assets (I'm sure they pay their taxes in Ireland), etc. The works. The UK didn't have the guts to do it after the Cambridge Analytica scandal and now we're facing scarcity and the possibility of a Farage government
Two problems with that: there's little they can do on the Brazilian jurisdiction other than what you listed directly above (no liquidation possible as their HQ is conveniently in Ireland); and without a plan to restore the contacts in an alternative tool, blocking all Meta services would be severely disruptive for Brazilian citizens, so a nationalization of local assets might be better suited.
@csolisr surely "Conrado Leister VP & Country Director Facebook Brasil, facebook" has some legal responsibility over the actions of the company he leads?
