For.. reasons.. I am making a wealth inequality playlist. I posted an earlier version about 10 hours ago. This is the latest version reflecting everyone's feedback. Remember, I want songs that aren't TOO aggro and could be background-ish at an event, catchy, topical, without making themselves the center of attention. Here's what I have for V2 of the playlist. Please parse this list and suggest along these lines, if you like.

although “Territories" has the great line:
"Don't feed the people
But we feed the machines
Can't really feel
What international means”

in reply to Jeff Atwood • • •They are often overlooked but, in my opinion, another great Australian band that have beautifully lyrical songs about poverty, oppression, etc. are Augie March.
In particular, check out their songs “Bottle Baby” and “The Hole In Your Roof” (one of my all time favourite songs) and “Drowning Dream”.
Glenn Richards (their songwriter and frontman) is a criminally unappreciated poet.

What do the dead say
To the ones who still think they’re alive?
“With your heads all on backwards
You can’t see in front for what near behind you lies”
Well show us some help then
Above your head let it flicker the light
These ones that I’m with
Have not learned to forgive
Your necessary alibis
When they made you love money
And the poor prophet’s stock
When they poisoned our watersheds
And fashioned our arrowheads
From the deep forbidden rock

A great black sun hangs over the valley
Mute chimneys, locked portals
Still carts, abandoned towers.
No more orange flame in the rainy sky. At night they look like ancient castles
eaten away by brambles, frost and death.
I'd like to keep working, keep working,
shaping red steel with my golden hands.
Keep working, keep working,
red steel and golden hands

"I used to like to go to work, but they shut it down
I've got a right to go to work
But there's no work here to be found
Yes, and they say we're gonna have to pay what's owed
We're gonna have to reap
From some seed that's been sowed"
