Why is there a staircase going down right into the bathroom? Is the entire floor bathroom? If not, do the other areas have their own stairs or is all access through the bathroom?
My imagination is telling me it's an apartment with all single room studios that you access each room via trapdoor and you're actually just living in a furnished pit.
Looks like a shady AirBnb where the host didn’t have a bathroom, but did have a spare basement storage space and a cow rug that was too ugly to put anywhere else and simply didn’t give a shit.
I wonder if that's the hot water heater for the whole house? Looks a bit small and it's odd to mount that on the wall unless modern stuff is just that good.
Something about this seems like someone's partially finished basement and it's a Pittsburgh potty, which answers some of your questions at least.
huh, i didnt realize there was an official term for those. Here, locally, ( Ohio ) ive only ever heard them called sacrificial toilets or "random basement toilet".
The electrical on the water heater looks temporary
What is that white cable or pipe leading to the toilet from the tank
I thought it could be for wheelchair access, but then there's the sketchy looking stairs behind the... Wood... Fence.. and the.... Transparent cloth wall????
Why does the brown cow pattern fit the little cutout for the toilet in the rug
Why is there a giant cabinet under that counter, but it also still looks inaccessible
What is that giant sink against the wall in the mirror
That cabling is the kind of temporary that lasts longer than the heater. The pipe from the heater to the toilet is the pressure relief of the heater. To me it looks like a DIY repair in a Soviet summer home, maybe in the Baltics somewhere. Just a random guess. The transparent is probably a glass wall. Why glass? No clue, people are weird. That cow hide was matched to the toilet most likely... The sink is probably a clearance sale item from some luxury looking brand. Got it for cheap or free just needed a use for it :D Well these are just my thoughts but it does evoke some nostalgia in me.
