Manchester City found guilty on almost all Premier League charges relating to financial breaches

The players will have made their millions, it mightn't affect them much. Pep should be questioned more imho.
He announced two years ago that he was thinking of leaving (it looked like the timing then would've been for the charges) but happily stayed another year when they were delayed.

He got caught doping as a player (two times I think), the doctor that he used got banned and was the same doctor that Lance Armstrong used and Pep had also kept him on at Barcelona.

The Negreira Case (with Barca) also had the top referee in Spain on Barcelona's payroll, which is a pity because it casts a doubt on the Barca team for a decade or longer, and that was an unbelievable team without having to cheat. It was also when Barca and Real Madrid got TV rights for all of the matches (even if they didn't play) which meant that they were already head and shoulders above all of the other teams in terms of finance.

Pep could be a good manager, we will probably never properly know because his whole career is tainted with cheating, whether it was financial or doping to get an unfair advantage.

I'm not sure in what sense he means the Prem is the most "competitive" league. It's certainly not the highest level of play -- Spain has won more champions leagues over basically any time period you choose -- and it's certainly not the league with the highest parity from back to front, and the case at hand is specifically about how Man City bought a bunch of titles, which is manifestly uncompetitive. You might think he's just saying stuff because he owns the club or something

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, meanwhile, said in June 2024 that the Premier League should adopt a more “balanced approach” towards its financial regulations. “I think the Premier League got to where it is today by being the most competitive league. So, I hope there is a bit more sensibility in regulating,” Al Mubarak added.

Most competitive - Any team could win it. It's less likely to be won by a low number of teams/the same teams, and mainly because of its financial equality.

The latter making it much harder for the bigger teams to beat the much smaller sides.

I don't to intimate that you're the sheik who doesn't know ball; I just mean there isn't a way to interpret his claim that is correct, outside of being the kind of bland corporate speak you get from every sports suit. I think the prem has a significantly better claim on being the "best" league rather than the "most competitive" -- it isn't even the most competitive men's soccer league in England.
