They were specifically locked in a cave in the 40's so they couldn't help our least favorite painter

They served Napoleon, then got chased into a cave where they served some Yeti's for awhile until the payment 70's when they accidentally killed the Yeti leader and were forced out. Then they found Gru as a child.
